It was the first night of my first hols in Ibiza, when we evetually decided to go and get drunk in San An Town, with possible outcome of ending up in one of Discotecas. So we started in a hotel bar, having few drinks there, and stopped a taxi and went to Bar M. The place was not very crowded, owing to third week of September, when holiday makers are back in UK and Germany.
Main streets of San-An seem to be crowded regardless of the date. At the end of the day – all those people who were staying in San Antonio had to go somewhere.
Walking up the main street – we stopped in a very tiny bar with blue and pink neon signs (cannot really remember what the name was). There were only two bartenders there, and a bald English guy in his flip-flops offering kids walking by numbers of free shots. About 10 people around the bar on stools, and mint trance bumping from the speakers. Cannot really remember how many shots, and mixers we had. But the best thing about that bar – was the burning shot (as I call it).
I have got no idea what sort of spirit the bartender made it from. It was something red with some fruit flavour. A tall glass, shot glass, and a straw – are necessary for this experiment. What he did was – he poured a shot or so into tall glass, rotated it two times, and put all the content into shot glass. Then guy lights the thin film of alcohol inside the glass with a lighter, and puts it upside-down on the bar.
What you need to do now – is inhale quickly all the vapour from the glass with a straw put under the bottom (top) of that upside-down glass, an drink a shot straightaway after that.
It hits you immediately, for several seconds. And it is tasty as well. Do not remember how many of them I had, and how many my bird had that night…
Of course we could not help to visit that bar again this year. Bartender recognised us in a second (simply cause my bird is that hot)… and could mean only one thing – number of free shots on house.
The bar is somewhere on the corner of main street of .San An. And is a must go. Should you ever wish to stop there - look for a bald English guy in late twenties, wearing shorts and flip-flops, who offers you a shot.
